Ambush by the Lads XI

The Lads XI 203/4, P Fernando 3-27

On reflection, the fact that the Lads XI had not won a game all season, and that they defaulted to us in the first game of the season, should have been a warning sign that they were ready to unleash a batting blitz on an unsuspecting Wildcats team.  They further lulled the ‘Cats into their well laid plan by letting us score 202 batting first and then losing three wickets in their first over to the Nando Express.

After that, it was all downhill as the ‘Cats took the foot off the throat and pressure was applied by their surviving opener who went on to hit the required 9 off the last over to win with a well compiled unbeaten century.

There were some positives – good individual performances by Alex (50) and Rhys (44) with the bat and Nando (3-27) with the ball and a tidy all round effort in the field. However, this uncharacteristically flat performance has left the Wildcats needing to rediscover their A game to get the season back on track.
