Fortress goes Boooooom

Karori Wildcats 149/6, Alex Hampshire 61(26) Tom Westaway 31(36)

Keeping with the tradition of being too disappointed to come up with the words for a lengthy write up, here is a brief description our our latest loss.

Nando won the toss and elected to bowl on wet track. The cats bowled fairly well with Dan and Tom picking up some early wickets, as the innings went on the Boom started firing and with a late folly ended up with a slightly above par score of 153.

The chase was always going to be tough with the Boom bringing in two big guns (ex prems) to bowl the opening 6 overs. It was made even harder when Hamo cannoned a cut to gully of the first ball. Tim, Tom, Will, and Alex moved the cats along nicely but with 10 per over required from the last 13 overs it was always going to be a challenge. Just when it looked like we might be staring down the barrel of a win, the boom brought back their opener. Tom B and Nikko got us close but in the end the slow start cost us and the boom snook home.

On the plus side we had some great support from the Wags and Fags (Friends and Girlfreinds – Kev was the only Fag on the day)

The loss leaves the Cats joint top on points but knocked down to second on run rate.

4 more wins should see us through….

Wildcats – its a way of life…
