Twas the game before Christmas, when all through Karori,
Not a cloud was lurking, Not even out at sea;

The captains tossed the coin in the air,
A win saw the Wildcats first to bowl out there;

Bobby and Keaton began bowling with flair,
Leaving the Stale Danes’ batters in despair;

Four overs were bowled with the Danes losing one,
Nando and Blair were up to join the bowling fun;

Field settings were pondered as they were put in place,
Croft’s catch at silly mid off put a surprise on the batters face;

Quick thinking from Rhys, while Nando yelled for LB,
Saw a run out dismiss the batter at number three;

With short straight boundaries at the ground,
The Stale Danes score did slowly compound;

Crofty came on and delivered a ball towards the sky,
No ball was called and the Cat’s turned sour, after catch it did deny;

Nicholls, Rupert, and Keaton all collected a wicket,
all thanks to the Bobby for catching the ticket;

A total of 141 at Ben Burn felt under par,
But could the Cats get there before heading to the bar;

Padded up and ready to chase,
This total only needed a leisurely pace;

Run rate was no problem but wickets did fall,
Players don’t want to remember, but the score book does recall;

Gone Nicholls, gone Rhys, gone George and Blair!
Now Nando, now Alex and Kurt, all dismissed out there!

Seven wickets down at the end of the twelfth,
It was Croft and Keaton who looked in good health;

An eighth wicket partnership of 61 saw the Cats home,
and threw the next batters, Bobby and Rupert a bone;

Wildcats taking the victory with 6 balls to spare,
It was now time for the Cats to enjoy that Christmas beer,

As the Cats left the ground, it was good wishes all round,
Merry Christmas to all, and to all Chaaaahooo!
